Leaves Shadow: A Minimalist Residential Design

Creating a Glamorous Play of Light and Shadow

Under the design structure of tone compatibility with the site, Leaves Shadow integrates furniture, landscaping, and plantation of various forms. The design team crafted a glamorous play of light and shadow, resulting in a visually stunning experience within the context of minimalist residential design.

The design features timber veneer timber boards, imported metal accessories, metal formwork, curtains, timber louvre windows, scratch-resistant flooring, dark-tinted glass, and 10mm reinforced glass. The interior area spans 168 square meters and includes three bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, and two bathrooms.

Despite the presence of original partition walls and structural columns, the design team utilized line and axis alignment to minimize renovation costs and create visual consistency throughout the space.

Leaves Shadow was completed in October 2018 in Zhubei City, Taiwan. The design was driven by the need to create an interior with an inward-looking view, emphasizing comfort and relaxation. Extensive research was conducted to ensure that visual line calibration and lighting design appeared in various parts of the interior.

The most challenging aspect of this project was the precise articulation of lighting effects. The design team carefully calculated lighting fixture locations, heights, and angles to create a unique display of light and shadow that interacts with spatial volumes such as furniture, cabinets, and plantations.

The design team adopted a light beige color scheme and warm timber materials to complement the greenery, creating a natural and serene ambiance. Functional elements were utilized as space-making pieces in the lighting design scheme, resulting in lovely sceneries in every corner.

Leaves Shadow was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness. The design showcases strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
